Homeopathic Medicine for Hormones
Secretions of the ductless glands are called hormones. The drugs discussed below are sometimes used to remove their deficiency in production by the respective gland.
Adrenalinum (Thrice a day): It is produced by adrenal cortex gland which is situated one above each kidney. Adrenalin is used for stimulation of the sympathetic nerve endings.
Agnus castus (Thrice a day): Its berries balance the hormones produced by the body.
Insulinum (Thrice a day): It is secreted by the pancreas which is situated behind the stomach and in front of 1 and 2 lumbar vertebrae. It converts sugar to blood sugar for production of heat and energy in the body.
Oophorinum (Thrice a day): It is an extract of the ovaries. It is useful for treatment of menopausal symptoms and ovarian cysts. Estrogen, another hormone present in the urine of pregnant women and mares is also widely used for similar purposes in the conventional treatment.
Orchitinum (Thrice a day): It is an extract of the testes and is used for sexual weakness, senile decay of males and develops secondary sexual characteristics of males.
Pituitrinum (Thrice a day): It is secreted by a small gland at the base of the brain called pituitary anterior. Pituitrinum influences growth, sexual development, skin pigmentation and thyroid functions. In homeopathic doses, it is used for cerebral hemorrhage and for absorption of blood clots. Pituitary posterior, which is attached to pituitary anterior, also produces Pituitrinum which helps in absorption of water by the kidney and influences contractions of the uterus.
Steroid hormone (One dose daily): This is secreted by four small parathyroid glands situated near the thyroid. Steroid hormones also help in the secretion of Thyreoidinum.
Testosterone (Twice a day): It is an androgen isolated from the testes of a number of animals including man. It is considered to be the principal testicular hormone produced by man. It is powerfully associated with masculinity. This is a steroid that gives man a hairy chest, deep voice and rippling muscles. Its use in small doses fuels sexual desires and protects against bone loss during and after menopause.
Thyreoidinum (Twice a day): It is secreted by the butterfly-like gland situated in the interior portion of the neck. Thryreoidinum is used indirectly in growth and nutrition. In homeopathic doses, its effects are striking in treatment of myxoedema and cretinism.
NOTE 1: Recent studies have shown that adding hormones to the body does not cause hormone levels to rise. Instead, the body compensates by producing less hormones.
NOTE 2: Graphites is the most positive remedy for women diseases due to diminishing hormonal activity. It makes up for the deficiency in female hormones.
NOTE 3: In the conventional system of medicine, estrogen is usually prescribed during or in the post-menopausal periods to avoid osteoporosis and heart disease. The result of research by Dr. Carmen Rodriguis and other researches, has been published in the special issue on womenтАЩs health in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in March 2001 that a prolonged use of estrogen can cause ovarian cancer, breast cancer or endometrial cancer or cancer of the uterine lining. Result of further studies as published in the same journal late in the year 2003, said that use of estrogen can give rise to AlzheimerтАЩs disease, the most common form of dementia. The Canadian cancer society warned women away from using hormone replacement therapy. US food and drug administration suggests that women take the lowest dose of estrogen for a very short period for acute symptoms of menopause such as severe hot flushes, to avoid risk of breast cancer, heart disease and stroke.
