Aegle folia is the scientific name of Bael, a tree found across India and the Indian subcontinent. It is considered sacred by the Hindus, and its leaves are used in the worship of Lord Shiva, one of the Hindu Gods.

The fruit is called Wood Apple, Bengal Quince, and also as Japanese Bitter Orange.

About Aegle folia

Bael is a hard fruit with a smooth, green shell. Its insides have an orange pulp that has the citric aroma as well. There’s only one type of this monotypic genus Aegle.

Aegle Marmelos is made from the bael fruit pulp, while Aegle Folia is made from its leaves. These are considered as two separate drugs in homeopathy as the chemical composition differs in the preparation of the drugs.
