Endometriosis is a chronic disease that can occur in any women of child bearing age. In some cases, it causes severe pelvic pain, especially during menstruation, but in other cases there are no symptoms at all. The tissue lining the uterus is called endometrium and inflammation of the endometrium is called endometriosis or metritis. When a woman becomes pregnant or enters menopause, she may experience an improvement in her endometriosis. However, at the end of the pregnancy, the symptoms may return. Sometimes endometrial tissue may come outside the uterus through the fallopian tubes and may cause symptoms of endometriosis. They can spread to the organs closest to the uterus like ovaries, ligaments supporting the uterus, tissue lining the pelvic cavity, intestines, bladder, outer surface of uterus, fallopian tubes and more commonly vagina or cervix become cornered to the disease. The best way to confirm the diagnosis is by laparoscopy. In this method, a thin tube is inserted in the abdomen to see the pelvic cavity. This will reveal the exact location of the disease. Thus, it becomes easier for a homeopath to administer the oral homeopathic medicines for treatment of the patients to avoid Surgery.
