Homeopathic Cures for Epilepsy
RECENT
Absinthium (Thrice a day): Petit mal. Nervous tremors precede the attack. Sudden and severe giddiness and then fainting.
Argentum nit. (Thrice a day): Epilepsy in persons suffering from indigestion. Loud belching during the attack or before it. If given half an hour before the attack, it prevents the attack. The patient is withered and dried in constitution.
Belladonna 1x (Thrice a day): Recent epilepsy on young persons. Spasms followed by nausea and vomiting. Skin hot. Face flushed.
Cicuta vir. (Thrice a day): Violent convulsions. Fearful distortion of the eyes. Fingers clenched. Bending of the head, neck and the spine backwards. Moaning and howling.
Helleborus (Thrice a day): Epilepsy in infants. During the paroxysm, the child remains sensible and the paroxysm may occur several times during the same day and after the attack, the child goes to sleep. Bad effects from earlier head injuries.
Ignatia amara (Thrice a day): From emotional disturbances. Effects of grief and worry. Prevents recurrence of seizures if administered at the beginning of the aura.
Kalium brom. (Thrice a day): Attack at new moon. Prostration with congestion in the head. Anemia, gastric disturbances and troubles of liver and digestion.
Kalium cyan. (Thrice a day): Convulsions are violent. Face turns blue. Breathlessness before and during the attack.
Oenanthe croc. 3x (Thrice a day): Violent convulsions. Body becomes stiff. Foam in the mouth. Attack is worse during menstruation and pregnancy. Convulsive facial twitching.
Opium (Thrice a day): Fits come at night in constipated persons. Much drowsiness before and after the attack. Maybe due to fright.
Stramonium (Thrice a day): Recent epilepsy caused in people who stammer on account of fright. Raises head frequently from the pillow.
CHRONIC
Agaricus mus. 1000 (One dose only) Repeat after 15 days: Fits every seven days. Before attack, patient is talkative and yawns.
Amylenum nit. Q Locally: It relieves epileptic convulsions temporarily. A few drops on cotton kept near the nostrils of the patient to inhale, will give immediate relief.
Artemisia vulg. (Thrice a day): Epilepsy since childhood of girls at puberty. Petit mal without aura. Attack is after fright, emissions and masturbation. Several fits come together.
Borax 3x (Thrice a day): A valuable remedy in epilepsy of children, whether recent or old, provided the child is afraid of downward motion so much so that the child cries when an attempt is made to put him down on the bed and is very sensitive to noises.
Bufo rana (Thrice a day): It is of use in feeble minded children or prematurely seniles. Seizures occur at night during sleep, more or less connected with the sexual sphere. It is of use in many cases of epilepsy. Epilepsy at the time of menses.
Calcarea carb. (Thrice a day): Persons of scrofulous type. Children grow fat with large bellies and a pale face.
Cimicifuga (Thrice a day): Aura of a wavy type is felt in the brain before the attack. Opening and shutting sensation in the brain.
Cuprum met. 3x (Thrice a day): Aura begins at knees, ascends to the hypogastrium, followed by unconsciousness, foaming at the mouth and falling. Constant protrusion and retraction of the tongue like a snake.
Hydrocyanicum 200 (One dose only) Repeat every 3rd day: It is considered as a specific remedy for the cure of epilepsy.
Hyoscyamus nig. (Thrice a day): Fits followed by nausea and vomiting.
Indigo tinc. (Thrice a day): It is a useful remedy when the aura begins from a painful spot between the shoulders and flashes of heat from abdomen to head. Epilepsy with great sadness.
Melilotus: Epilepsy from a blow on the head.
Millefolium (Thrice a day): Epilepsy from suppressed menses.
Passiflora Q, Oenanthe croc. Q (One dose daily) At night: 5 drops of Oenanthe croc. Q or 100 drops of Passiflora Q in half a cup of cold water, given at bed time usually prevents the nocturnal attacks of epilepsy.
Plumbum met. (Thrice a day): Epilepsy in patients with unhealthy skin, obstinate constipation and mental depression.
Psorinum 200 (One dose only) Repeat after 15 days: It is used as an intercurrent remedy when other symptoms of this medicine are present.
Silicea 200 (One dose only) Repeat once a week: Fits during sleep. Nervous irritability. Ill-effects of vaccination. Sensation of coldness before an attack. Indicated in children with a large head and large abdomen.
Solanum carolinense (One dose daily): Convulsions of epilepsy of idiopathic type where the disease has begun beyond the age of childhood. Hysterical epilepsy. Use 20-40 drops of mother tincture as a dose.
Sulphur 200 (One dose only) Repeat once a week: It should be used as an intercurrent remedy.
Tarantula his. (Thrice a day): Hysterical epilepsy with intense sexual excitement.
Zincum phos. (Thrice a day): Removes mental weakness of the epileptics.
Diet: Epileptics should take more fats like butter, etc. and less proteins.
