Homeopathic Medicine for Constipation
It is a condition in which bowel movements are infrequent or incomplete.
Alumen (Thrice a day): Constipation of the most aggravated kind. No desire for stools for days together. Violent ineffectual desire for stools. No ability to expel stools and if expelled is like marbles.
Alumina (Thrice a day): No desire for stools. Great straining. Constipation of infants and old people and in women of very sedentary habits. Rectum is inactive.
Ambra grisea (Thrice a day): Chronic constipation of old people. Never “get done” feeling and unsatisfactory motions with frequent ineffectual desire to pass stool. Cannot pass stools when others are present.
Antimonium crud. (Thrice a day): Constipation and diarrhea alternating, especially in old people.
Asafoetida 3x (Thrice a day): Chronic constipation. Eructations loud and difficult. The pressure of the wind is always upwards.
Bryonia alba (Thrice a day): Dry and hard stools. There is no inclination to pass stools.
Cascara sag. Q (One dose daily): 10-15 drops in water acts as a laxative in constipation and restores normal functions. It is an intestinal tonic and helps remove dyspepsia.
Chelidonium (Thrice a day): Stools are hard and like round balls or like sheep dung. Heptic and gall bladder disorders are usually present.
Colchicum autum. (Thrice a day): Constipation – ineffectual desire for stools. Pressure does not relieve. Feels feces in the rectum but cannot expel them.
Collinsonia can. (Thrice a day): Constipation during pregnancy or following labour.
Fucus ves. Q (Twice a day): Constipation of obese patients with thyroid disorders.
Graphites (One dose daily): Stools are knotty, in large lumps and are united by mucus threads. Constipation with menses too late and scanty.
Hydrastis Q (One dose only) 20 drops in ┬╜ cup of water: Stools are felt in the small intestines and do not come down to the large intestines and anus. Enemas or glycerine plugs remain useless, they do not relieve. Constipation alternating with lossness of bowels. 20 drops a dose, gives temporary relief.
Lycopodium (Thrice a day): The patient is constipated since puberty or last confinement.
Magnesium mur. (Thrice a day): Constipation in infants during dentition. Passes only a small quantity of stools like sheep’s dung.
Mercurius sol. (Thrice a day): Never get done feeling. Little stool passes on each occasion and the desire remains. There may be cutting colic before each stool which may be greenish, slimy and bloody.
Natrium mur. (Thrice a day): Unsatisfactory motions. Stools like sheep dung.
Natrium sulph. (Thrice a day): On every attempt to pass a stool, only a little wind passes.
Nux mosch. (Thrice a day): Stool is soft, yet he is unable to expel it even after long straining.
Nux vomica (Thrice a day): Constipation with ineffectual desire for stools in persons of sedentary habits and accustomed to purgatives.
Opium (Thrice a day): Constipation due to the inactivity of the intestines. Stools are dry, hard and like balls.
Paraffinum: Frequent desire for stool. Obstinate constipation in children.
Psorinum: Constipation of infants and in pale, scrofulous children.
Phosphorus (Thrice a day): Constipation. Stool is long and dry like that of a dog.
Platinum met. (Thrice a day): Constipation of travellers who are often changing food, water and places.
Podophyllum (Thrice a day): Constipation alternating with diarrhea in children with colic.
Senna (Thrice a day): Never get done feeling with abdomen full of wind and it is painful.
Sepia 200 (One dose daily): Constipation during pregnancy. Stools are hard and knotty. Bleeding at stools with fullness of rectum. Large, hard stools. Sensation of a ball in the rectum.
Silicea (Thrice a day): Constipation before and during menses. Stool comes down with difficulty and when partially expelled recedes again.
Staphysagria Q (One dose daily) 2-5 drops in ┬╜ cup of water: Constipation of sexy ladies whose brain is mostly working on sexual matters and constipation after sexual excesses. Two drops night and morning in an ounce of water.
Sulphur 200 (One dose only) Repeat every 3rd day: Constipation on account of fear of passing the stool because stools are hard, knotty and difficult to expel, and they cause pain in the anus while passing.
Thuja occ. (Thrice a day): Chronic constipation. Stool like hard, black balls. Constipation with violent rectal pain, causing stools to recede.
