Homeopathic Medicine for Heart Attack – Myocardial Infarction
A heart attack occurs when the blood supply to the heart muscle is severely reduced or stopped. This happens when one of the arteries (coronary arteries) supplying blood to the heart muscle is blocked. If the blood supply to the heart muscle is cut off for longer than several minutes, muscle cells in the affected area suffer irreversible injury and die. As the heart cannot reproduce, heart muscle damage from the heart attack is permanent. A heart attack can result in disability or even death depending on how much and where the heart muscle is damaged. Over 90% of the heart attacks are caused by a blood clot in the coronary artery (coronary thrombosis or coronary occlusion). The formation of blood clots is often associated with atherosclerosis, the build-up of plague (a combination of cholesterol, cellular waste and other materials) on the artery wall. When the plague ruptures, it can form a blood clot capable of blocking one of the coronary arteries. Serious atherosclerosis can also cause a heart attack by тАЬblocking offтАЩ the flow of blood through the coronary artery. Heart attacks can also occur by severe contraction or spasm in one of the coronary arteries. When this happens, the artery narrows and blood supply to the heart muscle is decreased or even stopped. It can occur in the normal appearing blood vessels and vessels partly blocked by atherosclerosis.
Paleness, anxiety, fear, sweating, shortness of breath, indigestion, tightness or chest pain, overall weakness and nausea are general symptoms of a heart attack. Some individuals, particularly women may experience vague chest discomfort or think that they are having heartburn. Symptoms can come and go. Such a patient should immediately be referred to the nearest hospital or a heart specialist. About 40 percent of such patients die within 30 minutes of the attack.
