Homeopathic Medicine for Herpes

Alnus 3c (Thrice a day): Chronic herpes which appears again and again.

Arsenicum alb. (Thrice a day): Suppurating herpes with violent burning pains. Thirst for small quantities of water at short intervals. Clusters are dark and deep. It cures pains, etc. within 10 days

Calendula off. Q Locally: After the vesicles and crusts have disappeared – 50 drops mixed with one ounce of Vaseline may be applied on the affected parts to soothe the skin.

Cantharis (Thrice a day): Herpes of the right side.

Cistus can. (Thrice a day): Herpes on the back.

Graphites (One dose daily): Herpes on the genitals or herpetic eruptions on organs.

Gunpowder 3x (Thrice a day): Herpes of the face. Herpes facialis.

Hepar Sulphuris 10M (One dose only): Herpes sensitive. Ulcers on the prepuce, bleed easily. Herpes circinatas. A single dose cures, when it appears again and again after cure.

Dulcamara: Herpes simplex on the lips.

Hypericum (Thrice a day): Herpes zoster or shingles. It is generally found in men. Painful vesicular eruptions occurring along the course of spinal nerves in a unilateral way on the face, nose and eyes. Herpes in circular patches. It reduces pain.

Mercurius sol. (Thrice a day), Nitricum acidum (Thrice a day): Herpes of penis, prepuce or testicles. Herpes preputialis.

Mezereum 200 (One dose daily): Intolerable itching. Chilliness. Vesicles shinning or fiery red. Ulceration forms thick scabs under which purulent matter exudes, and in chronic cases

Natrium mur. (Thrice a day), Capsicum (Thrice a day), Rhus tox. (Thrice a day): Herpes of vulva. Herpes genitalis and herpes labialis.

Psorinum 200 (One dose only) Repeat after a week: Herpes on temples extends to ears and cheeks.

Ranunculus bulb. (Thrice a day): Herpes zoster. Shingles. Burning and intense itching. Bluish vesicles. Burning pains.

Rhus tox. (Thrice a day): It is a routine remedy for shingles. Its use reduces pain. It is also used for herpes labialis.

Sepia (One dose only): Herpes behind the ears. On the nape of the neck. Herpes circinatas in isolated spots.

Sulphur 200, Graphites 200, Syphilinum 200 (One dose only): Any of these three medicines, if selected according to the symptoms, is useful for herpes zoster ophthalmic. In such cases, the first division of the 5th cranial nerve is involved affecting the eye, face and nose – the area supplied by this nerve. Ocular complications can be quite serious and should be treated early. An opinion of an ophthalmologist is advisable in this occasion.

Sulphur iod. 3x (Thrice a day): Herpes of lips.

Tellurium met. 6c (Thrice a day): Herpes in circular spots anywhere, even on face or in the eyes. Takes a long time to develop its action.

NOTE 1: Genital herpes is mostly spread through sexual contact through the moist membranes of the penis, vagina, urinary opening, cervix, anus or mouth. It rarely spreads through the toilet seats, bath tubs and swimming pools. Swelling, blisters and sores are caused when the body’s immune system tries to fight the infection, and actually this is a curative reaction of nature to fight the disease. Many people with genital herpes experience repeated or recurrent outbreaks. This happens when the body’s immune system is low, for example, at times of stress, fatigue, after an illness or Surgery. The patient should avoid sharing intimate articles like towels and razors used on the area of herpes and use safer sex methods.

NOTE 2: Shingles is caused by a reactivation of chicken-pox or herpes virus (Varicella zoster) which lives in the ganglia of sensory nerves and survives lifelong in people who have had that illness.

NOTE 3: Herpes is a nuisance but it is not life threatening. It can be avoided by avoiding stress, and using cotton underwear as synthetic underwear keep the moisture and air out, slowing the healing process. Wash hands after touching the sores as other parts, especially the eyes, when touched with infected hands can suffer from this disease. Sex should be avoided otherwise the other partner will be infected.
