NOTE 1: Liver is a major organ for detoxification and fat metabolism.
NOTE 2: Hepatitis virus, chemicals in drugs and alcohol can cause liver cells to die and be replaced with scar tissue called cirrhosis which can cause liver to shut down without a warning. Cirrhosis also results in loss of functioning of liver cells and increased resistance to flow of blood through the liver.
NOTE 3: Hepatitis is caused by a virus which spreads by contact with the infected blood received in blood transfusions or organ transplant. In the early stages, the only symptom is fatigue. Late stage symptoms include digestive problems, joint pain and kidney disease.
