Homeopathic Medicine for Marasmus
Marasmus is general weight loss or wasting, especially in young children, primarily due to prolonged dietary deficiency of protein and calories.
Abrotanum (Thrice a day): General marasmus. Legs mostly wasted from below upwards. Appetite is good. Ill-effects of suppressed diseases.
Arsenicum alb. (Thrice a day): Emaciation due to fever.
Aurum mur. (Thrice a day): Emaciation after syphilis.
Baryta carb. (Thrice a day): Child is weak and sluggish with tonsillitis. Abdomen is large.
Calcarea carb. (Thrice a day): Emaciation of skin with large abdomen. Skin is folded. Bones do not grow rapidly and normally.
Calcarea phos. 6X (Four times a day): A good tonic during the disease. Skin is dry, wrinkled and withered. Can be given in alternation with the indicated remedy. ChildтАЩs face is wrinkled. Sweating of head and hands while sleeping.
Causticum (Thrice a day): Emaciation due to long standing worries as due to a disease.
Ferrum phos. 6x (Four times a day), Calcarea phos. 6x (Four times a day), Natrium mur. 6x (Four times a day): Two tablets of each and all the three mixed one dose should be given early in the morning along with other indicated remedy at an interval of three hours.
Hydrastis (Thrice a day): Emaciation after measles.
Iodium 200 (One dose only) Repeat after 1 week: Rapid emaciation despite a good appetite. Eats well and still emaciates. Glandular atrophy. Wants cool surroundings. Fear of people. It may be noted that this remedy in lower potencies reduces weight and in higher potencies, 200-1000 increases weight. There is extreme hunger and the child eats well and more, yet he emaciates rapidly. The skin appears yellow and there is a trouble with the thyroid gland.
Natrium mur. 200 (One dose only) Repeat every 3rd day: Chilliness with a pale complexion and constipation. Emaciation starts from above-neck or upper limb and spreads downwards.
Pepsinum, Natrium phos. (Thrice a day): Marasmus of children who are fed on artificial food.
Phosphorus (Twice a day): Emaciation after menstrual disorders.
Picricum acidum (Thrice a day): Emaciation though the appetite is good.
Plumbum met. (Thrice a day): Emaciation due to anemia.
Syphilinum 1M (One dose only): A dose can be given after Tuberculinum. It follows it advantageously but it should be given only if there is a history of syphilis in the family. Extreme emaciation of the skin.
Tuberculinum 1M (One dose only): Treatment should be started with this remedy and no other remedy should be given for the next 24 hours.
