Homeopathic Medicine for Pleurisy – Inflammation Of The Pleura
Aconitum nap. (Thrice a day): It should be the first remedy which should be thought in a case of chest pains. Bryonia should be given if it fails to relieve in one day.
Antimonium ars. 3x (Thrice a day): Wet pleurisy with inflammation of cardiac muscular tissues and membranes enclosing the heart. Excessive dyspnea and cough with much mucus secretion. Accumulation of fluids in the pleura (pleural effusion), and catarrhal pneumonia.
Arnica mont. (Thrice a day): Pleurisy resulting from injury inflicted by a broken rib may yield completely to the use of this medicine. If a supplement is needed, Bryonia and Kalium carb. compete for choice.
Arsenicum alb. (Thrice a day): Great restlessness. Drinks often but little at a time. Burning pains in the chest relieved by warmth.
Bryonia alba (Thrice a day): Stitching pains in the chest worse by any motion and better by rest and cold things. Dry pleurisy.
Cantharis (Thrice a day): Great burning in the chest and also burning in the urethra when urinating.
China off. (Thrice a day): Pleurisy with fever and great weakness.
Hepar Sulphuris (Thrice a day): Pleurisy complicated with bronchitis. Formation of pus in the chest. Wet pleurisy.
Kalium carb. (Thrice a day): Breathlessness. Burning pains in the chest. Cough.
Kalium sulph. (Thrice a day): Applicable in the later stages of the inflammation. Rattling of mucus in the chest. Yellow expectoration and pus formation.
Ranunculus bulb. (Thrice a day): Pain in the muscles of the ribs. Chilliness in the chest when walking in open air. Rheumatic pains in the chest. Pleurodynia.
NOTE: In pleurisy, rest is essential. The patient should have no more exercise than bathroom privileges. Increase the fluid intake. In acute cases, the affected side should be strapped to immobilize the chest.
