Homeopathic Medicine for Tonsils

Agraphis nutans (Thrice a day): Enlarged tonsils.

Ammonium mur. (Thrice a day): Internal and external swelling of the throat and tonsils; can hardly swallow anything. Phlegm is sticky.

Baryta carb. (Thrice a day): Scrofulous children who are physically dwarfish and do not grow and develop normally. Tonsils always swollen. Catarrh of posterior nares. Takes cold easily. Suppurating tonsils from every cold. Smarting pains when swallowing. Can swallow only liquids. Stinging pain in the tonsils. A great remedy in such conditions, both in children and old people.

Baryta mur. 3x (Thrice a day): Tonsils are enlarged and swollen. Swallowing is difficult. Has to breathe through the mouth.

Belladonna (Thrice a day): Enlarged tonsils with redness. Burning, dryness and a sense of constriction in the throat. In such cases, it should be considered as the first remedy.

Brain 3x (Thrice a day) (Lerveau): It is an excellent remedy for the sequele after surgical removal of tonsils.

Calcarea carb. 1M (One dose only) Repeat after one month: It is another remedy for ailments after Surgery of tonsils. Give it once a month till cured.

Calcarea fluor. 6x (Thrice a day): Inflammation of the tonsils with pus formation or deposits of small mucus plugs on the tonsils. Hypertrophy of the pharyngeal tonsils. Pain and burning in the throat is relieved by warm drinks but is worse by cold drinks.

Calcarea sulph. (Thrice a day): Abscess on the tonsils.

Guaiacum off. Q (Twice a day): Acute tonsillitis with sore throat, worse heat and touch.

Hepar Sulphuris (Thrice a day): Tonsils inflammed with danger of pus formation. Sensation of a thorn in the throat and ulcers on the tonsils are cured by this remedy.

Lachesis 200 (One dose only) Repeat after a week: Tonsils sore and swollen, worse left side. Septic conditions. Painful with hawking. Purplish or of livid color. Swallowing saliva or liquids is painful. Cannot bear anything tight around the neck. Slightest pressure internally or externally on the neck or even touch annoys.

Mercurius iod. 2x (Thrice a day): It is an excellent general remedy for tonsillitis when there is inflammation and pain in the tonsils, worse right tonsil.

Mercurius sol. (Thrice a day): Tonsillitis with bad breath and with painful swallowing.

Nitricum acidum (Thrice a day): Tonsillitis, where the throat is so painful that the patient really cannot swallow anything, is cured by this remedy.

Phytolacca dec. (Thrice a day): Inflammation of the tonsils with pain in throat. Tonsils become dark red and blue. The patient cannot swallow hot drinks. Hoarseness is usually present.

Pyrogenium 200 (One dose only) Repeat after a week: For septicaemia of tonsils.

Streptococcinum 1000 (One dose only) Repeat after a month: For all troubles and ailments after tonsillectomy (removal of tonsils). The patient is pale, blue or has dark rings around the eyes. No appetite and is listless. Give one dose every month for six months.

Tuberculinum 1M (Thrice a day) Repeat after a month: Always keep this remedy in view when treating frequent tonsillitis and enlarged tonsils with a hard-dry cough and loss of weight.

NOTE: Tonsil is a mass of lymphatic tissue which acts as a filter to protect the body from the invasion of bacteria and aids in the formation of white cells.
