Homeopathic Remedies For A Barking Cough

Any affection of the larynx in children, characterized by difficult and noisy respiration and a hoarse cough is known as croup.

Aconitum nap. (Thrice a day): This remedy should be given in the beginning when there is a dry, barking cough with restlessness and a desire for drinking cold water.

Chloralosum (Thrice a day): The patient can inhale air easily but cannot exhale. Extreme breathlessness and constriction of the chest.

Hepar Sulphuris (Thrice a day): Croup during the cold dry winds. Dry, barking, choking cough and whistling respiration.

Moschus Q: Sudden constriction of larynx and trachea without cough, hoarseness or catarrh. Put a few drops on cotton and keep it near the nostrils of the patient to inhale. It gives relief and suffocation is avoided.

Sanguinaria (Thrice a day): Cough with wheezing and whistling. Severe breathlessness and constriction of the chest.

Spongia (Thrice a day): Respiration is short and difficult with a sensation as if the larynx is plugged. Cough with a sound as if wood is being cut with a saw.

NOTE: During the attack, the patient should not be allowed to sleep to avoid choking and suffocation.
