Homeopathic Remedies for Alopecia – Baldness

Complete or partial baldness may occur naturally as a part of the aging process. It may occur as effects of serious illness or it may be hereditary. It can occur also due to the use of certain drugs. Following medicines are useful for the treatment:

Acidum fluor. (One dose only): Alopecia of old age or of prematurely aged due to syphilis. Falling of hair in patches.

Alumen 200 (One dose daily), Selenium met. 30 (One dose only): For alopecia i.e., falling of hair of head, eyebrows, eyelashes and other parts of the body.

Arsenicum alb. (One dose only): Alopecia due to use of metallic arsenic in forms other than potentize. Scalp itches intolerably. Circular patches of bare spots.

Calcarea phos. (One dose only): Falling of hair in bunches.

Mancinella 200 (One dose daily): For alopecia neurotica i.e., baldness after a severe acute diseases or at the scar of a healed wound.

Natrium mur. (One dose only): Falling of hair after delivery of a child and its nursing.

Pix liquida (One dose only): Alopecia due to the diseases of the scalp. Scalp itches intolerably and bleeds on scratching.

Sanicula aqua 200 (One dose daily), Thuja occ. 200 (One dose daily): For alopecia furfuracea i.e., baldness which is chronic due to dandruff and lots of itching.

Selenium met. (One dose only): It is useful in baldness of the whole head.

Sepia (One dose only): Falling of hair in pregnancy.

Silicea (One dose only): For premature alopecia i.e., baldness, prematurely.

Thallium (Twice a day): Alopecia after serious diseases. There is abnormal and excessive perspiration on the head. Total baldness.

Tuberculinum 200 (One dose only), Thuja occ. 200 (One dose only) Repeat after 1 week: Baldness in sharply defined circumscribed patches i.e., alopecia areata. Falling of hair due to dandruff.

Thymus serpyllum Q: Helps regrowth of hair. Use externally and internally.

Vinca minor (One dose only): Baldness is sharply defined, circumscribed patches which leave the scalp smooth and white or grey hair may grow on the bald spots like white wool. Hair may knit together.

Wiesbaden (One dose only): The hair grows rapidly and become darker by the use of this remedy. It also helps to cure the falling of hair.

NOTE 1: Onion slices rubbed on bald spots sometimes cures baldness.

NOTE 2: Baldness can be due to the following causes:

1. Age – By the age of 50, approximately 50% men experience hair loss.
2. Stress.
3. Illness.
4. Major surgery.
5. Medicines such as those used in chemotherapy, blood thinners, antidepressants, excessive amount of vitamin A and diseases like diabetes.
