NOTE 1: In females, every month during the menstrual cycle, an ovum is released from the ovary into the fallopian tube where it can be fertilized by the male sperm. It then travels to the uterus. If the egg is not fertilized, menstruation occurs and the lining of the uterus is shed through the vagina. If the egg is fertilized, it is pregnancy. The best way to avoid pregnancy is to avoid the combination of the ovum and sperm. This can be done by man by using a latex condom during intercourse or the woman who uses a cervical cap with a spermicidal gel on it, which blocks the entry of the sperms into the cervical canal. Surgical and some other oral methods are also available.
NOTE 2: Allopathic system has a pill containing progestron and estrogen which is taken daily in the morning to avoid conception. Now a patch is available containing the same ingredients. This patch can be applied anywhere on the body expect breasts. It remains effective for a week. The side effects of both treatments are breast tenderness, headache, nausea, upper respiratory infection, menstrual cramps, abdominal pains, and in some cases, cancer of the breasts.
