Homeopathy Treatment for Common Cold
Aconitum nap. (Four times a day) x 2 days: Give in the beginning, at the start of the cold when the weather is very hot or very cold and there is much sneezing – for two days, four doses a day. If it fails, give Ferr-p.
Allium cepa (Four times a day): Allergic coryza from pollen. Much sneezing. Copious, watery and extremely acrid discharge. Coryza with cough and headache.
Ammonium carb. (Thrice a day): Discharge of sharp burning water. Stoppage of nose at night. Coryza of long standing.
Argentum nit. (Thrice a day): Coryza with chilliness, lachrymation and headache. Ulcers on septum.
Arsenicum alb. (Thrice a day): For ripe cold. Thin watery discharge which is hot and excoriating. Nose feels stopped. Sneezing gives no relief. It is worse in the open air and better indoors.
Arum triph. (Four times a day): Acrid, excoriating discharge. Nostrils sore. Nose obstructed. Must breathe through the mouth. Irritation in nostrils. Discharge maybe bloody.
Arundo (Thrice a day): A remedy for catarrhal states. Burning and itching of the nostrils. Coryza and sneezing due to pollen allergy.
Bacillinum 200 (One dose only) Repeat after a week: Patient has less resistance to take cold. He gets coryza often.
Belladonna (Thrice a day): Coryza – mucus mixed with blood. Tingling at the tip of the nose which is usually red and swollen. Cough may accompany; when it does, it is tickling, short and dry and worse at night. Continuous inclination to swallow mucus.
Calcarea carb. (Thrice a day): The patient takes cold early, especially at every change of weather. Nostrils are dry, sore and ulcerated. The nose is stopped, the discharge is of yellow color and is fetid.
Calcarea sulph. (Thrice a day): Cold in the head with thick, yellowish, purulent secretion frequently tingled with blood. One-sided discharge from the nose. Discharge is yellowish, thick, excoriating and abundant.
Dulcamara (Thrice a day): Profuse coryza during rain or when the days are hot and nights are cold. Coryza in new born babies.
Eucalyptus (Thrice a day): Thin watery coryza with fetid discharge. Nose does not stop running. Water comes out even on bending the head forward and without any effort.
Euphrasia 6 (Four times a day): Cold fully established with watering of eyes. Thick discharge but non-irritating.
Ferrum phos. 6x (Four times a day): During the second stage of coryza, when there is heaviness of head also.
Hepar Sulphuris 1x (Thrice a day): It will often start secretion and profuse discharge in snuffy colds. Two or three doses are generally sufficient for the purpose. Sneezes every time he goes in the cold dry wind. Nostrils ulcerated.
Iodium (Thrice a day): Coryza when the discharge is thick and of yellowish color.
Ipecacuanha (Thrice a day): Coryza with stoppage of nose and nausea.
Kalium bich. (Thrice a day): Snuffles of children. Fullness and blockage on either side of the nose. Mucus drips down in the back of the throat. The mucus is tough, ropy and profuse. It is especially indicated in fleshy, fat and light complexioned patients. There can be violent sneezing.
Kalium hydriod. (Thrice a day): A good remedy for thin, watery, profuse, acrid coryza.
Lemna minor (Thrice a day): Discharge very abundant and foul smelling. Nasal obstruction.
Lycopodium (Thrice a day): Fluent coryza. Ulcerated nostrils. Nose stopped up.
Mentholum (Thrice a day): It is curative of acute nasal catarrh with pain in the eyeballs and frontal headache. Ears appear blocked up as in deafness and sore throat.
Mercurius sol. (Thrice a day): Acrid discharge. Very thick greenish discharge, has to be blown out. Sneezing in the sun. It is worse in damp weather. Nostrils become ulcerated.
Natrium mur. 200 (One dose daily): Violent, fluent coryza. After 2-3 dayтАЩs nose becomes stopped and the patient has to breath through his mouth. Discharge is thin and watery with violent sneezing. If used on commencement of sneezing, it often controls further worsening. Nose is sore, especially the left wing.
Natrium sulph. 6x (Four times a day): Stuffy nose. Yellowish-green, offensive, phlegmy cough.
Nux vomica (Thrice a day): Coryza with frequent sneezing and obstruction of nose during the night. Snuffles in new born infants. Open air gives relief. Acrid discharge. Sometimes bleeding during day only with a feeling of obstruction in the nose.
Ocimum sanctum 3x (Thrice a day): Nasal catarrh with sneezing and white or yellow discharge. Lachrymation of eyes and ophthalmia.
Populus candicans (Thrice a day) 5 drops in ┬╜ cup of water: 5 drops a dose, three times a day is very useful for colds especially with a hoarse voice or even with loss of voice.
Phosphorus (Twice a day): Periostitis of nasal bones. Chronic catarrh with small hemorrhages. Handkerchief is always bloody.
Phytolacca dec. (Thrice a day): Flow of mucus from one nostril and posterior nares.
Psorinum 1M (One dose only) Repeat after 15 days: One dose often gives immunity from catching cold.
Pulsatilla nig. (Thrice a day): Coryza with stoppage of right nostril.
Quillaya sap. (Thrice a day): If given early, in the beginning of the coryza, it stops the further development of cold. Sore throat, dryness of throat and cough with difficult expectoration.
Rhus tox. (Thrice a day): Coryza from exposure to cold, wet winds and on getting wet while perspiring. Sneezing. Tip of the nose is red, sore, ulcerated and swollen.
Sabadilla (Thrice a day): Coryza with spasmodic sneezing, severe frontal pains, redness and watering of eyes, sore throat beginning on left side with tough mucus. Symptoms better hot food and hot drinks, and worse cold food and cold drinks. No thirst.
Sambucus nigra (Thrice a day): Dry coryza of infants. Difficult breathing and noisy breathing startle the child. Snuffles in infants.
Saponaria off. 10M (One dose only): It breaks up the cold, coryza and sore throat. The patient behaves as if drunk.
Solanum nig. (Thrice a day): Acute coryza, watery discharge from the right nostril, left stopped up, with a chilly sensation alternating with heat.
Triticum rep. 1x (Thrice a day): It is an excellent remedy for coryza when the patient blows his nose constantly, even when the discharge does not come on each occasion.
Trombidium (Thrice a day): Discharge from nose while bending the head during eating or drinking.
