Homeopathic Medicine for Measles
It is an acute disease, characterized by a catarrhal inflammation of the respiratory mucous membranes with fever and a generalized eruption of a dusky red color on the skin.
Aconitum nap. (Thrice a day): In the beginning, on appearance of the catarrhal symptoms, the patient demands water at night though he has seldom done so in the past. He is chilly and restless.
Belladonna (Thrice a day): If Aconitum nap. in four doses does not help and there is sore throat, headache, cough and swollen face, give this remedy.
Bryonia alba (Thrice a day): It is a very useful remedy when the patient is quite and does not want to be disturbed.
Camphora lx: If the eruptions do not appear or are deficient in appearance, give 2 or 3 drops a dose on a lump of sugar till the reaction sets in.
Cuprum acet. (Thrice a day): When there are convulsions during the disease.
Hydrastis (Thrice a day): For weakness remaining after measles.
Kalium bich. (Thrice a day): Measles complicated with respiratory troubles.
Mercurius sol. (Thrice a day), Silicea (Thrice a day): If after the fever, cough remains – use either of these remedies according to indications.
Morbillinum 200 (One dose daily) For 3 days: It should be given at the commencement of the disease. Dose, one dose daily for three days to those children who are still safe. It will prevent the disease from attacking them.
Natrium mur. (Thrice a day): Blisters remaining in the mouth after measles are cured by this remedy.
Pulsatilla nig.: Pulsatilla nig. 1M – one dose every night for three days acts as a prophylactic in this disease. When the disease has taken hold and there is much digestive catarrh and diarrhea, and the patient does not want to be covered despite the fever, give this remedy in 30 potency, thrice daily.
Rhus tox. (Thrice a day): Soreness all over the body. Restlessness and pains.
Stramonium 6c: Ill-effects resulting from suppression of eruptions like measles, etc. are removed by the use of this remedy.
GERMAN MEASLES (RUBELLA)
It is an acute infectious disease resembling both scarlet fever and measles, but different from both. It spreads through mouth, nose and eye secretions, causing mild illnesses in children but can be potentially dangerous for pregnant women, causing abortion, congenital abnormalities in the fetus or killing the unborn child. Treatment is symptomatic.
