Homeopathic Medicine for Meningitis
It is an inflammation of the membranes covering the brain or spinal cord.
Aconitum nap. (Thrice a day): It is the first remedy to be thought of in this disease. Nocturnal furious delirium. Fullness of head. Heavy, pulsating, hot, bursting and pressure in the head. Sensation as if the brain were moved by boiling water.
Anacardium ori. (Thrice a day): Brain confused and there is a total loss of memory.
Apis mel. (Thrice a day): It is very useful in spinal and brain meningitis. Heat, throbbing distensive pains better by pressure and worse by motion.
Belladonna (Thrice a day): There is high fever. Face is red and hot but lower extremities are cold. Violent delirium is usually present.
Cicuta vir. (Thrice a day): When there are convulsions.
Cuprum met. (Thrice a day): It is useful when there are convulsions resembling epilepsy.
Glonoinum (Thrice a day): It is used when there are pulsations in the temples, fever and vomiting.
Natrium sulph. (Thrice a day): It is a very good remedy for spinal meningitis especially if the patient is living in a damp house or a basement. The patient dislikes speaking or to be spoken to. Any sound, even ringing of a telephone is unbearable.
Zincum met. (Thrice a day): Useful in children suffering from this disease. Child is awakened by fear. Rolls his head and cries in his sleep.
NOTE: Meningitis is an infection of the fluid and membranes covering the brain and the spinal cord. It can be caused by bacteria, viruses or fungus. Although homeopaths treat diseases taking into account the symptoms alone but sometimes other facts become important for easy treatment. The symptoms of this disease are very similar regardless of the cause i.e., fever, drowsiness or confusion, severe headache, stiff neck, bright light hurting the eyes, nausea and vomiting. In children, symptoms may be more difficult to identify i.e., fever, irritability especially when handled, difficulty in awakening, difficult feeding, vomiting, stiff neck and a soft spot on the top of the skull.
